The Story
The 5 Stones
of Faith
The Blessed Virgin Mary spoke of 5 Stones of Faith: Prayer, Fasting, the Mass, the Bible and Confession.
Just as David picked up 5 stones to defeat Goliath, in what seemed to be a hopeless situation, the Rosary can be a tool or spiritual prayer weapon in the hands of Christians. The power of God is far greater than that of any warrior or worldly situation. Christian tradition has seen David's battle and victory as analogous to the Church's battle and triumph over Satan.

"Then he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in his shepherd's bag or wallet; his sling was in his hand, and he drew near to the Philis'tine."
(1 Samuel 17:40)
"You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin; but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, who you have defied."
(1 Samuel 17:45)
"And so David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone, and slung it, and struck the Philis'tine on his forehead; the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. So David prevailed over the Philis'tine with a stone, and struck the Philis'tine, and killed him; there was no sword in the hand of David."
(1 Samuel 17:49-50)
"Our Lady has chosen you, like David; you who are small, just as you are. She has suggested that you put five stones into your sack in order to overcome the atheism that surrounds us, that paganistic mentality that is being disseminated and seems invincible. Neither we nor the Church are capable of conquering materialism on our own. Our Lady has appeared in Medjugorje to declare that this is possible. Here are her 5 stones: Prayer, Fasting, the Mass, the Bible, and Confession. With these simple weapons we overcome the world." - A Testimony, by Father Jozo OFM
